The Wealth Palace in Zi Wei Dou Shu: How You Make Money Is Part of Who You Are
Of the twelve palaces, the Wealth Palace is the one most tightly bound to the Life and Career Palaces: those two are its triad. Put simply, how you make money, what kind of person you are and what kind of work you do are three sides of the same thing. To read the Wealth Palace, you read Life, Wealth and Career together.
How to read the Wealth Palace
- Start with the major star. The star in the Wealth Palace describes how you earn and how you feel about money: Wu Qu earns through skill, Tian Ji through ideas, Tai Yang through reputation, Tian Fu by holding on. Each of the fourteen is covered below.
- Then the Life–Wealth–Career triad. The Wealth Palace's triad is the Life and Career Palaces, so money is read together with personality and work. Opposite sits the Mind Palace, your state of mind and what you enjoy, which decides how the money gets spent.
- Look at transformations and Lu Cun. Hua Lu or Lu Cun here means income tends to flow more easily; Hua Quan means control over financial decisions; Hua Ke means financial credibility; Hua Ji means you care a great deal about money and are prone to worry or disputes over it.
- Look at the malefic stars. Qing Yang and Tuo Luo stand for competition and delay, Huo Xing and Ling Xing for ups and downs, Di Kong and Di Jie for leakage. Malefic stars in the Wealth Palace are common; what matters is whether a Lu star or a bright major star is there to steady things.
The Life–Wealth–Career triad: two fixed triangles
Two groups among the fourteen major stars always form a triad with each other: Zi Wei, Lian Zhen and Wu Qu, and Qi Sha, Po Jun and Tan Lang (the Sha-Po-Lang trio). Since the Wealth Palace's triad is the Life and Career Palaces, as soon as one of these stars sits in the Wealth Palace, the other two must be in the Life Palace and the Career Palace. For example, with Wu Qu in the Wealth Palace, the Life Palace always holds Zi Wei and the Career Palace always holds Lian Zhen: you want to lead, you work with tact, and your money comes from real ability.
Three more pairs, Tian Fu and Tian Xiang, Tian Ji and Tian Tong, Tai Yin and Tian Liang, each fix one side, either the Life Palace or the Career Palace. The full list:

Myth: a good Wealth Palace means you will get rich.
The Wealth Palace describes how you earn and how you think about money, not how much ends up in the bank. Two people with Wu Qu in the Wealth Palace can end up in very different places: one builds up savings steadily through expertise, the other puts money first and damages relationships along the way.
Myth: Hua Ji in the Wealth Palace means you will lose money.
Hua Ji stands for caring and fixation. People with Hua Ji here are often especially sensitive about money, which can make them sharper with a budget; the real risk is making impulsive decisions out of anxiety.
Myth: an empty Wealth Palace means no money.
About 16.1% of charts have an empty Wealth Palace. You read it through the major stars of the Mind Palace opposite and pay attention to Lu Cun, the transformations and the minor stars inside; it has nothing to do with whether you will have money.
