Tian Fu in the Wealth Palace: How You Earn, and Where the Money Goes

Tian Fu is the treasury star, and in the Wealth Palace the treasury is in its own home. You are good at holding on to money and manage it conservatively and steadily, valuing savings and property; this is one of the best placements for building up wealth.

Your attitude to money

Tian Fu’s money is made by keeping it: you may not earn the most, but what you earn stays. Tian Fu’s great fear is Di Kong and Di Jie. When they meet Tian Fu in the Wealth Palace, the treasury is hollowed out; things look solid on the surface but are tight underneath.

• How you earn: You suit stable organisations, finance, management, property, and work that lets you build up over the long term.
• How you spend: You are conservative and value security; your money goes first into savings and property.
• Financial risk: With Di Kong or Di Jie, you look strong but are stretched inside; being too conservative can also mean missing chances.

Life, Wealth and Career: money is tied to who you are and what you do

With Tian Fu in the Wealth Palace, the Life Palace always holds Tian Xiang: you yourself value rules and trust and are good at bringing people together, while Tian Fu keeps the money safely held. The major star in the Career Palace is not fixed.

This is built into the chart: counting four palaces forward from Tian Fu always lands on Tian Xiang, and the Life Palace always sits four palaces forward from the Wealth Palace, so the Life Palace always holds Tian Xiang (sometimes together with Zi Wei, Lian Zhen and Wu Qu). Bright and fallen positions

When bright, the treasury is full; you keep what you have and save a lot. In a fair position you still hold on to money, only the treasury is smaller. With Di Kong or Di Jie, keep a close eye on cash flow. The Wealth Palace's four-way set is the Mind Palace (opposite), the Life Palace and the Career Palace. Where your money comes from can't be separated from your personality and the way you work; how you spend it is tied to the Mind Palace, which stands for your state of mind and what you enjoy. The table shows the major stars of these palaces for each of the twelve branches Tian Fu can occupy in the Wealth Palace.

"Empty palace" means the palace has none of the fourteen major stars; in that case you read it through the stars of the opposite palace.

Wu Qu with Tian Fu (Zi or Wu)

Birth-year transformations in the Wealth Palace

Under the Four Transformations table of the Complete Book of Zi Wei Dou Shu, Tian Fu never transforms, so Tian Fu in the Wealth Palace never carries a birth-year Hua Lu, Hua Quan, Hua Ke or Hua Ji of its own. For transformations affecting your money, look at any other star sharing the palace, at Lu Cun, and at the Mind Palace opposite and the Life and Career Palaces in its triad.

Money advice

Being conservative is a strength, but review how your assets are spread once a year, so your money isn’t all sitting in the safest place that also grows the least.

About 39.2% of charts with Tian Fu in the Wealth Palace also have at least one of the six Sha stars in that palace, lower than the 42.3% across all charts. Malefic stars in the Wealth Palace usually show up as uneven income or impulsive spending and call for a bit more discipline; they do not mean you are bound to lose money.
