Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace: How You Earn, and Where the Money Goes

Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace means you earn through reputation, connections and the public: money follows how visible you are. Your motive for earning is often more than money; you want recognition and you want to look after others.

Your attitude to money

Tai Yang’s money scatters: you can earn it, and you give it away too, often spending it on other people. When Tai Yang is bright you gain both name and profit; when fallen you give much and get little back, often working for someone else’s benefit.

• How you earn: You suit public-facing work: sales, media, education, civil service, the service industry, or any job where reputation and connections bring in income.
• How you spend: You are generous, love treating people and love helping, and your money often goes to family and friends.

Life, Wealth and Career: money is tied to who you are and what you do

With Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace, the major stars of the Life Palace and Career Palace are not fixed: the Life Palace may hold Ju Men, Tian Liang or Tai Yin, or it may be empty. Often the Life Palace carries Ju Men’s way with words or Tian Liang’s caring nature, while the money comes from Tai Yang’s public presence.

With Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace, the major stars of the Life and Career Palaces are not fixed; the table below lists them for each of the twelve branches.

Bright and fallen positions

When bright, reputation brings money, and your income grows along with your influence. When fallen, you work hard in body and mind but income lags behind your effort, and you often feel you are earning for someone else. The Wealth Palace's four-way set is the Mind Palace (opposite), the Life Palace and the Career Palace. Where your money comes from can't be separated from your personality and the way you work; how you spend it is tied to the Mind Palace, which stands for your state of mind and what you enjoy. The table shows the major stars of these palaces for each of the twelve branches Tai Yang can occupy in the Wealth Palace.

"Empty palace" means the palace has none of the fourteen major stars; in that case you read it through the stars of the opposite palace.

The six combinations

Tai Yang alone, facing Tian Liang (Zi or Wu)

Zi: Tai Yang fallen; Wu: Tai Yang strong. Opposite (Mind): Tian Liang; Life: Ju Men; Career: empty palace. About 17.2% of charts with Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace fall into this group.

Your income comes through reputation and giving; opposite, Tian Liang in the Mind Palace means inside you are principled and value your good name above money. In Wu, Tai Yang is at its brightest and you gain both name and profit; in Zi it is fallen and you often work for someone else’s benefit.

Tai Yang with Tai Yin (Chou or Wei)

Sun and Moon together guard the Wealth Palace: sometimes income comes from outside (reputation, connections), sometimes from inside (planning, saving), and your finances rise and fall with your moods. Tai Yang with Ju Men (Yin or Shen)

• Tai Yang with Hua Lu (born in a Geng year): For people born in a Geng year, Tai Yang with Hua Lu in the Wealth Palace means reputation and popularity bring money, and income grows with exposure. In our sample, about 10.2% of charts with Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace carry the birth-year Hua Lu.
• Tai Yang with Hua Quan (born in a Xin year): For people born in a Xin year, Tai Yang with Hua Quan in the Wealth Palace gives strong control over how resources are shared out. You suit managing budgets for the public or a team. In our sample, about 12.8% of charts with Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace carry the birth-year Hua Quan.

About 43.1% of charts with Tai Yang in the Wealth Palace also have at least one of the six Sha stars in that palace, about the same as the 42.3% across all charts.
