Tian Xiang: The Seal Star, fair, diplomatic, the right hand
Wherever Tian Xiang lands, you care about fairness and appearances in that area. In the Career Palace you coordinate well and make a good right hand, in the Spouse Palace you value courtesy and boundaries, in the Friends Palace you are the peacemaker. Tian Xiang brings reliability and grace, and is easily swayed by the people and matters around it.

Tian Xiang belongs to the Tian Fu group and always sits 4 boxes forward from Tian Fu, so its distance from Tian Fu never changes and it forms only six combinations with the other major stars.

Brightness

Transformations of Tian Xiang
In the Complete Book ten-stem table this site uses, Tian Xiang never becomes Lu, Quan, Ke or Ji. When you read Tian Xiang, look at the transformations of the stars sharing or facing its palace, and at the two palaces flanking it.
What to check first when reading Tian Xiang
Always check the two palaces on either side of Tian Xiang. It never transforms itself, so a great deal depends on what flanks it: Hua Lu and Tian Liang on either side is the classic “wealth and shelter flank the seal”, while Hua Ji and Qing Yang on either side is the pattern the classics warn about most. With Zi Wei, Wu Qu or Lian Zhen in its palace, it follows that star’s nature.

How we counted: this site’s engine cast one Zi Wei chart for every day from 1960 to 2005 (birth hour drawn by a fixed-seed random sample), 16,802 charts in all. These figures describe how chart structures are distributed; they do not measure anyone’s fortune.

Tian Xiang: common questions
What is “punishment and Ji flank the seal”?
Tian Xiang is the Seal Star. When the palaces on either side hold Qing Yang and Hua Ji, the classics call it punishment and Ji flanking the seal and read it as being pulled into other people’s affairs. We do not read it as bad news, only as a reminder to keep good boundaries in that area.
