The Indirect Wealth Structure in BaZi: Moving money, made through dealings and contacts, and easily split
Indirect Wealth is the Ten God the Day Master controls, with the same polarity. With an Indirect Wealth Structure, the point is whether helping gods on the stems support it, and whether anything there breaks it.
What is the Indirect Wealth Structure?
Indirect Wealth is the Ten God the Day Master controls, with the same polarity. It stands for money in motion, opportunity, contacts and a knack for deals. An Indirect Wealth Structure is built around keeping resources circulating: sales, investment, business, networking. Like Direct Wealth it is a benevolent star, used by supporting it, but because this Wealth moves, the risk of Peers carrying some of it off is plainer.
How it is taken: when the Indirect Wealth hidden in the month branch shows on the year, month or hour stem, or when none of the hidden stems shows and the Main Qi is the Indirect Wealth, the chart is an Indirect Wealth Structure. It is a structure used by supporting it (shun yong, 順用).
How we counted: using this site's structure rules, our engine cast one chart for every day from 1960 to 2005, with the birth hour drawn by a fixed-seed random sample, 16,802 charts in all. This describes how chart structures are distributed; it says nothing about how far anyone will go.

The Indirect Wealth Structure with a strong or weak Day Master
- Strong: A strong Indirect Wealth Structure is good at dealing and willing to move; plenty of chances come, and it can catch them.
- Weak: With a weak Day Master, Indirect Wealth swings between feast and famine and keeps you running after money. Managing risk and finding partners to share the load help.

- Taking the structure: Yin month hides Jia, Bing and Wu. The Main Qi Jia Wood does not show; the Middle Qi Bing Fire sits on the hour stem. To Ren Water, Bing is Indirect Wealth, so this is an Indirect Wealth Structure.
- Making factors: Yi Wood on the year stem is Hurting Officer, so Output produces Wealth; Wu Earth on the month stem is Seven Killings, so Wealth produces the Officer.
- Breaking factors: no Peers on the stems, so the Wealth is not split.
- Strength: Ren Water is weak and favors Metal and Water. The structure is complete, but Wealth, Killings and Output all draw on the Day Master, which is exactly where a weak Indirect Wealth chart most needs outside help.

The classics often equate a structure that "holds" with wealth and rank, and a "broken" one with poverty and low standing. A reading closer to today is this: the structure tells you what a chart is built around, what holds it up, and where it is most easily thrown off. A structure that holds does not promise an easy life, and a broken one is not failure. Plenty of broken charts grow their real strengths in the work of mending the break.
