Tai Yang alone (opposite Tian Liang) is one of the sixty Life Palace star groups in Zi Wei Dou Shu and appears in the Zi and Wu branches. First we look at how these stars behave in Zi Wei, then where they land on the four MBTI axes, and finally we set the two systems side by side.
Tai Yang alone (opposite Tian Liang) in Zi Wei
Tai Yang (the Sun) sits in Zi or Wu, one midday and one midnight, with an exalted Tian Liang (the Elder) opposite in both cases. Tai Yang is the star of light, governing giving, reputation, the public and warmth, and it likes to shine on others; Tian Liang is the sheltering star, governing care, principle and an elder's bearing. With the two facing each other, this is someone warm-hearted, with a strong sense of justice, who likes to stand up for others. The two branches differ enormously. In Wu, Tai Yang is strong, which the old texts call “the sun shining at high noon”: at the height of its light, easily the focus of everyone's attention, with an early reputation. In Zi, Tai Yang is fallen: just as eager to give, but often feeling their efforts go unseen, giving much and getting back slowly.
The Wealth Palace has no major star, so their attitude to money is more influenced by decade periods and transformations, and Tai Yang's nature also makes them prone to spending on others. The Career Palace holds Ju Men: career rests on eloquence, expertise and argument, and teaching, law, media and public affairs all suit them well. When Tai Yang and Tian Liang face each other and also meet Wen Chang and Lu Cun, the old texts speak of the “Yang Liang Chang Lu” pattern (Sun, Elder, Wen Chang and Lu Cun together), often cited in connection with exams and official honors. The lesson for this group is to remember, while looking after others, to draw their own boundaries.

On the four MBTI axes: ENFJ
These are the star-group scores (Life Palace in full, opposite palace half, Wealth and Career a quarter each); positive leans E, N, T, J and negative leans I, S, F, P.
Extraversion is 1.88, a clear E. Tai Yang carries the heaviest weight on this axis and alone brings the score to 2; Ju Men in the Career Palace pulls slightly inward and Tian Liang opposite is neutral, so these people are extraverted and love interacting with others.

Reading Tai Yang alone (opposite Tian Liang) in ENFJ terms
Borrowing ENFJ terms, the dominant function of Tai Yang opposite Tian Liang is Extraverted Feeling (Fe): they care a lot about a group's atmosphere, and when they see someone left out or wronged, they step forward on their own. The auxiliary, Introverted Intuition (Ni), gives them a long-range picture of “how things ought to be,” brought mainly by Tian Liang opposite.
But their F only just clears the line, which sets them a little apart from the gentle, considerate ENFJ of common descriptions. Their care often comes with principle: they will stand up for you, and they will also tell you straight where you went wrong. Ju Men in the Career Palace makes them good at argument, so they are more like an ENFJ working as a teacher, lawyer or in public affairs, leading through persuasion and example. Those in Wu radiate outward; those in Zi are more the kind who give quietly without seeking applause.

- Speaking up against unfairness
- Tai Yang governs giving, and the ENFJ's Extraverted Feeling cares about others. Both describe someone who can't help speaking up when they see unfairness, often treated by friends as a dependable big brother or big sister.
- Leading people toward better things
- Tian Liang's principles plus Tai Yang's warmth correspond to the ENFJ's tendency to help a group grow. As managers, teachers or club leaders, these people often think about how to make everyone better.
- Promises kept
- With a J score of 1.75, Tai Yang and Tian Liang both value commitments, and the ENFJ also cares about following through. Whatever they agree to, they find a way to finish; they don't like letting people down.
Where Zi Wei and MBTI differ
- Zi and Wu: dark and bright
- Tai Yang is strong in Wu and fallen in Zi. Both are ENFJ, but the former radiates and gains a reputation early, while the latter gives a lot yet is seen less. MBTI has no distinction like “the noon sun” versus “the midnight sun.”
- F leads by only half a step
- The Feeling score of Tai Yang opposite Tian Liang is only -0.25, and the rationality of Tian Liang and Ju Men makes them more like a principled ENFJ. If the Mind Palace leans rational, they will read close to ENTJ.
- The Jia-year Hua Ji lesson
- In a Jia year Tai Yang takes Hua Ji, and this group tends to give without being appreciated, or to clash with older men and superiors. Zi Wei uses the birth-year stem to separate different lessons for the same stars; MBTI has no such layer.
- Yang Liang Chang Lu is about exams
- When Tai Yang and Tian Liang face each other and also meet Wen Chang and Lu Cun, the old texts call it Yang Liang Chang Lu, often used to discuss exams and honors. MBTI discusses learning styles, but exam luck is outside its scope.

Is Tai Yang in the Life Palace in Zi a harder life?
Tai Yang is fallen in Zi, which the old texts describe as light that doesn't show. The common pattern is giving much and getting back slowly, with efforts not always seen right away. That doesn't mean a lifetime of bad luck: with Hua Lu, Hua Quan, Lu Cun or helper stars, or when a decade period reaches a palace where Tai Yang is strong, people with a fallen Tai Yang can still build a reputation over time.
Why is Tai Yang opposite Tian Liang an ENFJ?
Tai Yang is strong on both the E/I and J/P axes, and Tian Liang adds to J and N. On the T/F axis, Tai Yang pulls 1 point toward F while Tian Liang opposite and Ju Men in the Career Palace pull 0.75 back toward T, leaving -0.25, which lands on F. So the site files it as ENFJ, but the F is weak and an individual chart can easily tip it to ENTJ.
