Tai Yang alone (opposite Ju Men) is one of the sixty Life Palace star groups in Zi Wei Dou Shu and appears in the Si and Hai branches. First we look at how these stars behave in Zi Wei, then where they land on the four MBTI axes, and finally we set the two systems side by side.
Tai Yang alone (opposite Ju Men) in Zi Wei
Tai Yang (the Sun) sits alone in Si or Hai with Ju Men (the Great Gate) opposite. Ju Men is strong on both sides, so again the difference is Tai Yang. In Si, Tai Yang is strong, and the noon sunlight can overpower the darkness of Ju Men across the way; such people speak well, have plenty of enthusiasm and talk persuasively. In Hai, Tai Yang is fallen, a night sun with little light, so the influence of Ju Men opposite shows more: many ideas and many worries. They may speak more cautiously, or after holding things in for a long time, suddenly turn sharp.
The triangle is neat. Tian Liang (the Elder) in the Wealth Palace means money is mostly tied to expertise, credibility and positions of trust, often with security provided by elders or institutions. Tai Yin (the Moon) in the Career Palace suits careful, patient back-office or planning work: a person who seems outgoing turns out to be quite meticulous at work. Tai Yang, Ju Men, Tian Liang and Tai Yin form a circle, and overall this is someone who wants to reason things out, look after people and do things carefully. The lesson is that outer enthusiasm and inner misgivings are often out of sync.

In ENFJ language, this group is led by Extraverted Feeling (Fe): willing to speak up for others and concerned that everyone is treated fairly. But T/F differs by only 0.37, and Ju Men opposite gives them an argumentative streak; in discussions they seriously press “what's the reasoning?” Among ENFJs, they are the ones most often mistaken for ENTJ.
Their Fe and Ni both carry Ju Men's coloring: they read people accurately and can see problems hidden behind a situation, though they don't always say so. Those in Si usually speak up; those in Hai often keep it to themselves until they are sure. Tai Yin in the Career Palace makes them more meticulous at work than they appear, often the one on the team who quietly patches the gaps.

- Ju Men opposite is good at sensing what's hidden, and the ENFJ's Introverted Intuition is good at anticipating how people and situations will change. Both say these people are very sensitive to “what's going to happen next.”
- An orderly life
- The J-leaning ENFJ likes to arrange things in advance, and Tai Yang, Tian Liang and Tai Yin all lean toward order. These people usually keep a clear calendar and aren't comfortable with last-minute changes.
Where Zi Wei and MBTI differ

- Tai Yang is strong in Si and fallen in Hai; facing the same Ju Men opposite, one lights it up and the other is held down by the dark. MBTI doesn't split people of the same type into cheerful and worried based on which branch their Life Palace is in.

- The site files this group as F, but the score is only 0.37. MBTI testing also often meets such middle values; Zi Wei's explanation is more specific: the feeling comes from Tai Yang and Tai Yin, the reasoning from Ju Men across the way.
- Warm outside, meticulous inside
- Zi Wei reads the Life Palace and Career Palace separately: Tai Yang in the Life Palace is warm and outgoing, Tai Yin in the Career Palace fine-grained and reserved, so these people seem like two different people at a social event and at their desk. A single MBTI type has a harder time describing this switch between settings.

Is a fallen Tai Yang in the Life Palace in Hai more pessimistic?
You can't infer that directly. A fallen Tai Yang is read as having less warmth and light, with a heavier sense of misgiving from Ju Men opposite, so outwardly they may carry more worries and speak more conservatively. That is a tendency; transformations, favorable stars and time periods all change it, and many people become steadier and more careful because of it.
How is Tai Yang opposite Ju Men different from Tai Yang + Ju Men in one palace?
When they share a palace, both stars are in the Life Palace and Ju Men's eloquence and analysis form the core of the personality, which the site files as ENTJ. When Ju Men is opposite, it counts only half, the core is Tai Yang's warmth, and with Tian Liang and Tai Yin in the triangle, the site files it as ENFJ, though T/F is almost a tie.
