Jade Hidden in Stone and the Ju Men Patterns
Ju Men is the “dark star” and the classics are often cautious about it, yet Ju Men alone at Zi or Wu has one of the loveliest names in Zi Wei: Jade Hidden in Stone. Jade inside rock only shows once it is worked, so the pattern is usually read as a late bloomer.
Jade Hidden in Stone
Conditions: Ju Men alone in the Life Palace at Zi or Wu.
What strengthens or breaks it: Hua Lu, Hua Quan or Hua Ke lift it; the Complete Book ranks Xin and Gui years top, Ding and Ji next; Sha and Ji lower it.

Ju Men is the star of speech and analysis; alone at Zi or Wu it faces Tian Ji, with Tai Yang in Career. Articulate and sharp, but in no hurry to show it, often needing a period of testing before being noticed. The “hidden” is apt: the ability stays out of sight until its time.
All sources agree on Zi and Wu; birth years vary widely. The Complete Book ranks Xin and Gui top and Ding and Ji next; one compilation says only Xin and Gui qualify; another accepts even a Ding-year Ju Men Hua Ji at Wu. We judge the frame and show the year as a grade.

Eloquence with warmth: persuasive, and more concerned with reputation than gain. Tai Yang at Yin is the rising sun, stronger than the setting sun at Shen, so sources agree Yin is better.
Sources agree Yin is better than Shen. iztro also calls it “the bright sun drives away darkness”, a name other sources give to Ju Men at Si or Hai, so we do not use it.

Tian Ji’s wit with Ju Men’s eloquence: clever, well read and a good debater, suited to work that needs analysis and persuasion.
One compilation accepts only Mao; iztro accepts Mao and You. The Complete Book’s line on You is the caution quoted above; “You does not qualify” comes from the compilation. We judge Mao only.
