Tian Fu in the Property Palace: The Kind of Home You Want

Tian Fu is the treasury star, and in the Property Palace it is "the treasury in its proper place"; the old texts see this as an arrangement that keeps the family estate and holds on to savings. You value a stable home and are very good at keeping what you have.

Home and living

People with Tian Fu here usually keep a tidy, well-planned, well-stocked home. The lesson is being too conservative, so when change is needed you can hesitate because you do not want to let go. With Di Kong or Di Jie, watch especially for "looks secure, is actually tight".

With Tian Fu in the Property Palace, the Life Palace star is not fixed: it can be Tian Tong, Tai Yang or Tian Ji, or the Life Palace can be empty.

With Tian Fu in the Property Palace, the Life Palace star changes with the branch; the table below lists it for each one.

Earning and keeping: the Wealth and Property Palaces

Counting five palaces forward from Tian Fu always lands on Tian Liang, and the Wealth Palace always sits five palaces forward from the Property Palace, so with Tian Fu in the Property Palace the Wealth Palace always holds Tian Liang: one palace shows how money is earned, the other whether it stays. With Tian Fu in the Property Palace, the Wealth Palace always holds Tian Liang and the Children Palace always holds Qi Sha: your money tends to be steady and protected, while home and the next generation are often one quiet, one restless. The Siblings Palace star is not fixed.

Bright and fallen positions

When bright, the treasury is full and the family estate is well kept. In a favorable position you keep things just as well, only the treasury is smaller; with Di Kong or Di Jie, things look secure on the surface but are tight in reality. Opposite the Property Palace is the Children Palace (home and family pull on each other), and its trine is the Siblings Palace and the Health Palace. The table shows the major stars of the Children, Life, Wealth and Siblings Palaces for each of the twelve branches Tian Fu can occupy in the Property Palace (we make no health readings from the Health Palace, so it is left out).

"Empty palace" means the palace has none of the fourteen major stars; in that case you read it through the stars of the opposite palace.

Wu Qu with Tian Fu (Zi or Wu)

Zi: Tian Fu exalted, Wu Qu strong; Wu: Tian Fu strong, Wu Qu strong. Opposite Children: Qi Sha; Life: empty palace; Wealth: Tian Liang. About 16.5% of charts with Tian Fu in the Property Palace fall into this group.

Tian Fu alone, facing Lian Zhen and Qi Sha (Chou or Wei)

Chou: Tian Fu exalted; Wei: Tian Fu exalted. Opposite Children: Lian Zhen and Qi Sha; Life: Tian Tong; Wealth: Tian Liang. About 19.2% of charts with Tian Fu in the Property Palace fall into this group.

Tian Fu is exalted in Chou and Wei, so the family estate is secure; with Lian Zhen and Qi Sha in the Children Palace opposite, children and younger people are strong-willed with firm views.

Zi Wei with Tian Fu (Yin or Shen)

Yin: Tian Fu exalted, Zi Wei strong; Shen: Tian Fu favorable, Zi Wei strong. Opposite Children: Qi Sha; Life: Tai Yang; Wealth: Tian Liang. About 16.2% of charts with Tian Fu in the Property Palace fall into this group.

Home is steady and good at keeping what it has; with Wu Qu and Qi Sha in the Children Palace opposite, children and younger people are tough and driven. In You, Tian Fu is strong and the household has deeper reserves than in Mao.

Lian Zhen with Tian Fu (Chen or Xu)

Birth-year transformations in the Property Palace

Under the Four Transformations table of the Complete Book of Zi Wei Dou Shu, Tian Fu never transforms, so Tian Fu in the Property Palace never carries a birth-year Hua Lu, Hua Quan, Hua Ke or Hua Ji of its own. For transformations affecting home, look at any other star sharing the palace, at Lu Cun, and at the Children Palace opposite.

Advice for home

Keeping hold of things is a skill; also review regularly whether what you are holding is still needed.

About 42.9% of charts with Tian Fu in the Property Palace also have at least one of the six Sha stars in that palace, about the same as the 42.1% across all charts. Malefic stars in the Property Palace usually show up as moves, household worries or ups and downs in your assets, which call for a bit more planning; they do not mean bad luck for the family.
