Tuo Luo is placed by the birth-year stem and is tied to Lu Cun: Qing Yang is always one box forward from Lu Cun and Tuo Luo one box back, so the pair flanks Lu Cun on both sides.

Qing Yang is fast, direct and charging; Tuo Luo is slow, dragging and grinding. The two flank Lu Cun one ahead and one behind, and are usually read together as the Yang-Tuo pair.
