The core of Pisces

Pisces is a mutable water sign and the last sign of the zodiac. Its traditional ruler is Jupiter, and modern astrology adds Neptune. Water is emotion, the mutable mode is flow and adaptation, Jupiter lends a generous, all-embracing spirit, and Neptune stands for dreams, spirituality, art and the dissolving of boundaries. Like the ocean, Pisces can hold anything, and it easily takes on the color of the feelings around it.

Pisces feels things intensely. When others are sad, they’re sad too, and a song or a film can bring them to tears. Rich imagination and deep empathy lead many to find themselves in art, music or helping work. But because their boundaries are soft, Pisces often can’t tell which feelings are theirs and which belong to someone else, and they can give so much that they end up swept under.

• Indecision: Because they understand everyone, they struggle to make any choice that might disappoint someone, and things drag on.
• Idealizing: They picture people and relationships as more beautiful than they are and take it hard when reality falls short.

Pisces in love

Pisces is one of the most romantic signs; they believe in love and will give a great deal for it. As partners they’re tender and considerate, able to sense needs the other person hasn’t voiced. Pisces longs for a meeting of souls, but they also tend to idealize a partner or sacrifice too much, which is why they most need someone steady, sincere and appreciative of what they give.

With a Pisces, gentleness and patience count for more than anything. Their feelings are finely tuned, and one harsh sentence can stay with them for a long time. They need work that feels meaningful and an environment that leaves room for imagination.

Pisces tends to be easygoing about money: quick to lend or donate out of sympathy and prone to spending on emotion. Their lesson is building boundaries and systems. Automatic transfers into savings, and a trusted person to look over big financial decisions, work far better for them than willpower.

Under stress, and the lifelong lesson

Under stress, Pisces wants to hide: sleeping a lot, sinking into music or shows, disconnecting from reality for a while. They do need quiet to drain off all the emotion they’ve absorbed, but they should watch that escape doesn’t become a habit. Time near water or out in nature often helps them recover.

Pisces’s lifelong lesson is keeping hold of themselves inside their compassion. Feeling others’ pain is a gift, but it doesn’t mean carrying everyone’s load. The three decans of Pisces

Each sign spans 30° and can be split into three 10° decans. Traditionally, being born early, midway or late in Pisces adds the coloring of a different planet. Why two Piscess can be so different

Your Sun sign tells you which stretch of the year you were born in, but Mercury (how you think and talk) and Venus (how you love, what you like) are not always in the same sign as the Sun. We calculated every day from 1950 to 2030:

Mercury never strays more than about 28° from the Sun, so a Pisces’s Mercury can only be in Aquarius, Pisces, Aries; Venus reaches about 47°, so its range is wider. Add a Moon that changes sign every two and a half days and an Ascendant that changes every two hours or so, and two Piscess may share almost nothing else in their charts. How Pisces lines up with BaZi

Pisces’s dates straddle two Chinese solar months: the first half falls in the Yin (Tiger) month, and after Awakening of Insects (Jingzhe) the Mao (Rabbit) month begins.
