Kan is Water — not a still pond, but water in motion: flowing, seeping, finding the gap. Its upside is resourcefulness and the patience to work out of sight. Its downside is the literal meaning of the trigram: a pit. Water runs to the low ground, so Kan also carries danger and unseen depth.
