Tian Ji + Tian Liang × MBTI: closest to INTJ
Tian Ji + Tian Liang is one of the sixty Life Palace star groups in Zi Wei Dou Shu and appears in the Chen and Xu branches. First we look at how these stars behave in Zi Wei, then where they land on the four MBTI axes, and finally we set the two systems side by side.
Tian Ji + Tian Liang in Zi Wei
The old texts have a line saying “when Tian Ji and Tian Liang meet, they are good at discussing strategy,” and it refers to Tian Ji + Tian Liang in the Chen and Xu palaces. In both, Tian Ji is fair and Tian Liang (the Elder) exalted, so brightness is the same. Tian Ji (the Strategist) is good at planning; Tian Liang is mature and principled, and as the sheltering star it likes to look after people and give advice. These people are good at analyzing situations and coming up with ideas, like a military adviser working behind the scenes rather than necessarily going into battle themselves. They can talk through reasoning convincingly, and even when young they carry a bit of an elder's tone.
Chen and Xu are what the old texts call the net of heaven and earth, and Tian Ji + Tian Liang seated here often feel their ideas run ahead of their surroundings and must wait patiently for the right moment. The opposite palace has no major star, so the Travel Palace borrows Tian Ji + Tian Liang from the Life Palace; the Career Palace also has no major star, so career direction is more affected by decade periods. Tian Tong + Tai Yin in the Wealth Palace needs a sense of financial security, prefers a stable income, and doesn't mind spending on quality of life and family. The lesson here is not to let thinking things through turn into talking too much; before giving advice, make sure the other person wants to hear it.

On the four MBTI axes: INTJ
These are the star-group scores (Life Palace in full, opposite palace half, Wealth and Career a quarter each); positive leans E, N, T, J and negative leans I, S, F, P.
Introversion is -1.75, leaning I. Tian Ji is reserved, Tian Tong and Tai Yin in the Wealth Palace both pull inward, and Tian Liang is neutral on this axis; the opposite palace and Career Palace are both empty, with no star pulling outward. These people prefer deep talks in small circles to busy gatherings.
Intuition is 3, a very clear N. Tian Ji carries the heaviest weight, and Tian Liang also leans toward abstract principles and reasoning; in the Wealth Palace Tai Yin leans N and Tian Tong leans S, and the two cancel without lowering the score.

Reading Tian Ji + Tian Liang in INTJ terms
Put into INTJ language, Tian Ji + Tian Liang's dominant function is Introverted Intuition (Ni): looking at something, their mind automatically projects what it will look like in a few years, which is exactly the knack for strategy. The auxiliary, Extraverted Thinking (Te), lets them organize those projections into concrete advice they can explain to others.
