Ten God Years: A Wealth, Officer or Resource Year Names the Theme
"Next year is your Wealth year." "This year you are in Seven Killings." These phrases mean that the year's stem and branch are a particular Ten God to your Day Master. The Ten God sets the year's theme; whether that theme is a tailwind or a headwind depends on your strength and your favorable elements.

The same kind of year can feel completely opposite to a strong and a weak Day Master. Saying "next year is your Wealth year" without mentioning strength and favorable elements tells only half the story. To judge your own strength, see strong or weak Day Master.
A Wealth year is not always a good year
Across the ten years we measured, here is how often a year stem of each Ten God group was favorable or unfavorable for the person concerned:

How we counted: our engine cast one chart for every day from 1960 to 2005 (birth hour drawn by a fixed-seed random sample), 16,802 charts in all, and looked at the ten years from 2026 to 2035. Years that repeat a luck pillar depend on the direction of the luck pillars, so each chart was read once as a man and once as a woman for that figure. This describes how chart structures are distributed; it says nothing about anyone's fortune.
No kind of year is favorable for everyone. A Wealth year is a harvest for some and, for others, money they can see but not hold on to; an Officer year means promotion for those who can carry it and pressure for a weak Day Master.

When the stem and branch are different Ten Gods
A year's stem and branch are often different Ten Gods. The 2027 Ding-Wei year, for a Bing Fire Day Master, is Rob Wealth on the stem and Hurting Officer in the branch. The stem's theme is more visible and easier to see; the branch is the root underneath, working deeper and more slowly. A folk rule says "the stem rules the first half of the year, the branch the second half." We list both and grade the year on stem and branch together.
When the year stem combines with your Day Master
If the year stem forms one of the five stem combinations with your Day Master (Jia-Ji, Yi-Geng, Bing-Xin, Ding-Ren, Wu-Gui), for example a Jia Day Master in a Ji year, classical texts often read that year as "being tied to someone or something." Combining with a Wealth star often concerns income or a partner; with an Officer star, work and responsibility. Stems run in a ten-year cycle, so everyone meets this once every ten years (about 10.0% of people in any given year). It describes a pull, not good or bad luck.

The year's stem (or branch) is Direct or Indirect Wealth to your Day Master. The year's theme is income and running things; a strong Day Master with Wealth as a favorable element is better placed to harvest, while a weak one may see many chances and struggle to hold them.
How do I know what kind of year this is for me?
Compare your Day Master stem with the year stem by element and yin-yang: the same element is Peers, the element you produce is Output, the element you control is Wealth, the element that controls you is Officer, and the element that produces you is Resource. Is an Officer year always stressful?
It depends on strength and favorable elements. For a strong Day Master with Officer as a favorable element, it is often a year of promotion and being noticed; a weak one feels more pressure and benefits from Resource to ease it, or from finding help.
