Choosing a Moving Date: Moving House, Moving In and Setting Up the Bed Are Different Entries
Moving sounds like one thing, yet the almanac has several related entries: moving house, moving into a new home, setting up the bed, construction. Plenty of people see "favorable for moving house" and assume it covers moving into a new home, but the almanac treats the two separately. Work out which one you are actually doing first, then look for the matching "favorable."

In our finder, "moving house" counts any day favorable for either moving house or moving in; "moving into a new home" requires "favorable for moving in," the stricter condition. If you bought a home and are moving in for the first time, choose "moving into a new home."
How we counted: our date-selection rules applied to the 365 days from October 1, 2026. "Neither person clashed" is the average over every pair of different zodiac signs; each day clashes exactly one sign, which removes about a sixth of the days on average.
Avoiding clashes for the whole household
A move affects everyone living together. Traditionally the head of the household is the main person whose sign must not clash; more careful families count everyone. The more people, the fewer days remain: each additional different sign removes about another twelfth. Our finder takes two people at a time; run it again with other family members' signs and keep the dates that appear in every result.

We filter by the almanac's favorable and unfavorable activities, drop days that clash with the people involved, and list each day's Yellow Path hours. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Zodiac signs change at the Start of Spring (around February 4), so if you were born in January or early February your sign may belong to the previous year; check the year pillar with the free chart calculator if unsure. To avoid clashes for more family members, run the search again with their signs.
The best weekend move-in dates for the next six months
Weekend days from October 2026 to March 2027 that are favorable for moving in and are also both a Yellow Path day and a good day officer: just 3 in six months (before removing any clash with your own sign). Relax it to "favorable for moving in" alone and there are many more, which you can check with the finder above.

Does the sha direction matter?
Entries such as "sha East" or "sha North" give the day's Three Killings direction. Tradition says to avoid breaking ground or moving toward that direction on the day. For a modern move, most people carry on with the moving route as normal and, only on the move-in day itself, try not to make their first entry through a door on the sha side. A straight word: a good date brings peace of mind, not responsibility for the outcome
Date selection is a custom that goes back more than a thousand years, and it can give an important day a sense of occasion and reassurance. But whether a marriage is happy, a move goes smoothly or a business does well comes down to people. Our favorable and unfavorable activities come from almanac calendar data, and different almanac traditions differ slightly. Should I look for "moving house" or "moving in"?
An ordinary move or a new rental goes by "moving house" (yi xi). Moving into a newly bought or newly built home for the first time goes by "moving in" (ru zhai). In our finder, "moving house" accepts either entry, while "moving into a new home" accepts only "favorable for moving in."

Can I move during the 7th lunar month?
The almanac does not forbid it; the 7th month still has days favorable for moving house and moving in. Avoiding moves in Ghost Month is a Taiwanese custom. Our finder avoids it by default, and you can switch that off.
Do I need a good hour for moving in?
Those who follow the custom closely do. A common practice is to step through the door for the first time at a good hour, bringing in symbolic items such as rice and water. The hours we list already exclude any that clash with the people involved.
