When Wealth Comes in BaZi: The Same Wealth Year Is an Opening for Some and Pressure for Others
Your natal chart sets how you and money get along; your luck pillars and annual pillars set the timing. A luck pillar changes every ten years and colors a whole stretch of life; an annual pillar changes each year and sets that year's ups and downs. So "when will I get rich" starts with the luck pillar, then the year, and always comes back to one question: is Wealth favorable or unfavorable for you?

These four signs do not all apply to everyone. The most common mistake is to hear "this is your Wealth year" and assume money is on its way. For a chart with heavy Wealth and a weak Day Master, a Wealth year is often the busiest, most tiring year, the one with the most money worries.

The strength of Wealth varies from year to year: years where both stem and branch are Wealth are the most marked, years where only the branch's main qi is Wealth are quieter. Which luck pillar your Wealth years fall in matters even more, and that needs a full chart to see.

A strong Jia Wood that favors Wealth
Born December 24, 1975, Mao hour (5–7 a.m.)
- Profile: a Jia Wood Day Master; the Mao Wood year and hour branches plus the Yi Wood year stem make it strong. The Wu Earth month stem is Indirect Wealth on show, and the Chen day branch hides Wu Earth too, so Wealth has weight: strong enough to carry Wealth. Wealth (Earth) is favorable.
- Wealth years: 2027 Ding-Wei, with Ding Fire as the Hurting Officer and Wei Earth as Wealth, is Output producing Wealth; 2028 Wu-Shen and 2029 Ji-You have Wealth on the stem; 2030 Geng-Xu has Wealth on the branch, and Xu also clashes open the Chen day branch, one of Jia Wood's wealth vaults. A Xin Metal with heavy Wealth and a weak Day Master
Born August 13, 1975, Chen hour (7–9 a.m.)
- Profile: a Xin Metal Day Master; Wealth (Wood) is about 45% of the chart, the Day Master is weak, and Wealth is unfavorable (see heavy Wealth, weak Day Master).
- Wealth years: 2034 Jia-Yin and 2035 Yi-Mao, when Wood is strongest, are this person's Wealth years, and also the two years of greatest pressure: many openings, heavy responsibility, money coming and going fast.
- The turning point: it is actually 2028 Wu-Shen through 2031 Xin-Hai, four years of Earth and Metal in a row, when Resource and Peers support the Day Master and Wealth can finally be held.

If this is my Wealth year, will I definitely make money?
Not necessarily. For people whose Wealth is favorable and who can carry it, a Wealth year is usually an opening. For heavy-Wealth, weak-Day-Master charts with unfavorable Wealth, a Wealth year tends to bring more money worries and fatigue; hold steady rather than expand.

Who is 2027 a Wealth year for?
The 2027 Ding-Wei year has Ding Fire on the stem and Wei Earth on the branch. For Geng and Xin Metal Day Masters, Ding Fire is the Officer and Wei Earth is Resource, so it is not a Wealth year. For Jia and Yi Wood Day Masters, Wei Earth is Wealth; for Ren and Gui Water Day Masters, Ding Fire is Wealth. Wei also clashes open the Chou vault, so Bing and Ding Fire Day Masters, whose wealth vault is Chou, should take note.
