Fu Wei in Eastern Numerology: What 11 and 22 Mean
Fu Wei is a doubled digit (11, 22 … 99). In Eight Mansions it is the home sector, the Fu Bi star. Eastern Numerology reads it as steadiness and waiting for the right moment, and in the count it carries the previous star forward. This page covers the eight pairs of Fu Wei and their strength, its place in the Eight Mansions, the traditional reading, and how it interacts with the other stars.
The eight pairs of Fu Wei
Fu Wei is two identical digits, both on the same trigram, so it has no strength levels.

| 33 | Zhen | east |
| 44 | Xun | southeast |

Fu Wei in the Eight Mansions
Fu Wei is a doubled digit (11, 22 … 99). In Eight Mansions it is the home sector, the Fu Bi star. Eastern Numerology reads it as steadiness and waiting for the right moment, and in the count it carries the previous star forward.
In the Eight Mansions system, Fu Wei is the direction of your own trigram, and one of the four favorable stars. Eight Mansions reads directions for people and houses; Eastern Numerology borrowed the same pairing to read numbers. The two share star names, but each developed its own readings.
What Eastern Numerology says about Fu Wei
The following is the tradition’s view, summarized as it is commonly taught; it is not a tested finding.
Strengths often mentioned
- Calm and patient; can wait for timing
- Works step by step and rarely makes big mistakes
- Suited to things that build up over years
Tendencies to watch
- Cautious and passive; may hesitate when a chance appears
- Comfortable staying put, so the urge to change is weak
- Overthinking and insecurity can leave things stuck
How Fu Wei works with the other stars
What sets Fu Wei apart is that it continues. It does not count as a star of its own; it repeats the star before it. In 1334, the 33 follows 13 (Tian Yi), so it counts as Tian Yi. Only a Fu Wei at the very start of a sequence, with nothing before it, counts as Fu Wei itself.
Because it continues the star before it, Fu Wei is often described as an amplifier: after a favorable star it steadies that star, and after an unfavorable star it makes that tendency more pronounced.
How common Fu Wei is in real numbers
With a fixed random seed we generated 200,000 Taiwanese mobile numbers starting with 09. Fu Wei makes up 14.1% of all pairs, 100% of numbers contain at least one Fu Wei pair, and about 5.6% of numbers have Fu Wei as their most common star (ties split). Fu Wei appears in 100% of numbers because the leading 0 takes the next digit, so 09 always becomes 99.

Fu Wei in Eastern Numerology: FAQ
Which pairs are Fu Wei?
11, 22, 33, 44, 66, 77, 88 and 99. 00 and 55 appear only when a number is all zeros or all fives and also count as Fu Wei. Fu Wei has no strength levels.
Why does Fu Wei turn into another star?
Eastern Numerology holds that Fu Wei extends and amplifies the pair before it, so when 33 follows 13 it counts as Tian Yi. Our calculator marks these pairs as “Fu Wei, carrying …” so you can see which star was extended.
